Remote Control Airplane Festival: Charm City Fly-In
The largest celebration of remote control airplanes in Maryland is back for its annual weekend of high-flying fun. This free event features local hobbyists zipping, dipping and diving their R/C planes, helicopters and jets hundreds of feet in the air.
As part of the three-day event, attendees will enjoy:
Flights and Demonstrations: Watch more than 25 pilots performing high-soaring stunts in over 100 freestyle flights. Pilots will fly many different types of aircrafts including hand-built scale models of real military planes, helicopters and drones, and hotliner glider planes that can reach speeds up to 200 MPH. Flights are continuous with take-offs from both the 600 ft. grass runway and the 275 ft. paved runway.
Novice Training Sessions: First-time flyers can experience (free of charge!) the thrill of piloting an R/C aircraft under the guidance of Southwest Area Modelers club members.
Festivities and Food: The Fly-In will include delicious grilled foods, cold beverages and a raffle for an R/C plane. Visitors are also welcome to bring their own food and refreshments.
The Charm City Memorial Fly-In is a free event, open to the public at the Southwest Area Park in Baltimore Highlands, Landsdowne, Maryland.
