About Me

Katherine Garcia is part of the founding team for the Center for Open Data Enterprise, where she manages communications and outreach. Previously she worked at The Governance Lab at New York University and the U.S. Mission to the United Nations. Katherine earned her MPA with an emphasis in Policy Analysis from Baruch College. She has over 10 years of media and publishing experience. Katherine is an active member of the Metro New York Chapter of the U.S. National Committee for UN Women and was elected Co-President in 2014. The chapter aims to increase public, political and financial support for UN Women, the United Nations entity for gender equality and women’s empowerment. She is a Board Director for SustainUS, a non-profit that empowers young people to advance sustainable development. She also organizes the Washington Viz-ards, a meetup group for data visualization enthusiasts in DC.
