“A connection-maker, networking strategist and expert community manager, Kelly Hoey is recognized for her “boots on the ground” leadership in the startup community by her investment in and promotion of women in tech. In 2011 Kelly co-founded Women Innovate Mobile, LLC (WIM), the first startup accelerator focused exclusively on fast-tracking the growth of early-stage mobile technology ventures with gender-diverse founding teams. In 2014, Kelly assumed an interim operations role as Chief Marketing Officer of Cuurio, a New York City based startup. Kelly continues to invest in as well as advise emerging technology companies and sits on the boards of Glimpse, JuiceLabs and Tampa Bay WaVE. She is a mentor for several startup accelerators (Straight Shot, Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator, Grand Central Tech, NYC Venture Fellows) and is an advisor to startups Cuurio, Rchery and GenoStyle. Kelly is Chief Tech Ambassador for the YWCA of NYC’s Geek Girls initiative. As managing director of WIM, Kelly was responsible for building the accelerator’s global influencer network of partnerships and connections offline and online (over 100,000 online connections, including 85,000 followers on Google+). She was also responsible for leading WIM’s marketing efforts including creating the Founders Breakfast networking events, Google+ Hangout on Air series #womenwhotech and the “Meet The Innovators” speaker series launched with Apple, Inc. in the SoHo Retail Store in February 2013. Kelly has presented in front of members of the European Commission (on building startup communities) and at conferences/events such as SXSW, IEEE Women in Leadership, PGA Championship, Women In The Boardroom, Bank of America, IIBN, MoDev, Morris County Chamber / Women In Business and Disruptors (Dublin), Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Meet The Innovators events at the Apple Stores in San Francisco, Chicago and London. In 2014, Kelly launched her “In Conversation With…” blog interviewing women entrepreneurs on SharpHeels. She’s appeared on CNBC Power Pitch, NPR and Huffington Post (Live) and has been featured in The New Yorker, Inc., FT, Forbes, Fast Company, WSJ, Business Insider, eWeek, Business Observer (FL), New York Times, Vancouver Sun and other media outlets.
